Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a crop insurance scheme launched on 13th January 2016. It replaces the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS.
Coverage
- Food crops (Cereals, Millets, Pulses) during Kharif season
- Oilseeds, Commercial/Horticultural crops during Rabi season
- Annual commercial and horticultural crops
Premium Rates
- Kharif crops: 2% of sum insured
- Rabi crops: 1.5% of sum insured
- Horticultural crops: 5% of sum insured

All farmers including sharecroppers and tenant farmers growing notified crops in notified areas. Both loanee and non-loanee farmers can participate.
Full insurance cover for crop loss. Premium as low as 2% (Kharif), 1.5% (Rabi), 5% (horticulture). Rest premium paid by Government.
