The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the central government's rooftop solar program that provides subsidised solar panels for homes. Households get up to 300 units of free electricity every month by generating solar power on their own roof.

Subsidy Amount Under the Scheme
The government provides a direct subsidy for rooftop solar systems — up to Rs 30,000 for systems up to 2 kW and up to Rs 78,000 for systems above 2 kW and up to 3 kW. The subsidy is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account after installation and inspection as per the official portal. Interest-free loans are also being offered by partner banks in many states.
